Cadiz carnival and some drawings

As a major port in Spain, Cadiz became popular during Carnaval , and copied vastly Venice as  there was regular  trade between the two. Cadiz in particular, is noted for its elaborate costumes, satirical songs and it's humour.

I don't have a photo of the other side but this was a duet between a chariot of  women and one of men, going from one corner of a street to an other, breaking out into song in turns

The characters and costumes I saw in Cadiz inspired me to develop further Peggy Valley's very own clown Frown Sullen, the slightly cliched melancholic clown. The following are sketches of Frown in various stages of his life and with various troops and performers
