Mural Painting - working in the studio

After too many subjects to choose from, i have my golden five: mural painting, wood and stone carving, anatomy drawing, set design and lithography. don´t get that in london, innit! The focus in many of the courses is highly practical, which is a nice change, as I feel I´m learning valuable skills. There´s even an option to to do medallion making, nice novelty skill for the cv, but decided against it in the end. Here´s some MURAL PAINTING
This is the space I´ve been allocated. 2.8 by 2.9 metres. I´ve been put in a group with three other spanish girs, and we take turns to helping each other, working on one person´s idea at the time. The people in my group are friendly, but they have a tendency of not turning up, making me look a bit like an erasmus billy-no-mates.
on  a good day! Me and co-muralist vanessa scraping a wall.
Materials for preparing the surface. sand and plaster. Sadly, these are not provided by the univeristy, so some tough quests for materials are made. Luckily, Vanessa´s dad is a builder, and our materials were dropped off without me having to lift a finger. success

wetting the wall so that the sand an plaster can grip on to it.

Hoovering up water.
HEALTH AND SAFETY NOTICE: The regulations here are considerably more relaxed than in England. Domiciano, our teacher, proudly showed us that the cable connecting the hoover to the mains, and lying in a pool of water,  was broken in three different places. In the case of someone being electrocuted in a puddle, Domiciano demonstrated how to save them: prod them with the emergency wooden stick provided, out of harm´s way.
