A little tour of universidad complutense

With no internet or camera in the last month i have not had the opportunity to give updates on the ol´ erasmus exchange . Now, with one of those problems solved (a fragile little camera from fnac), I´ve managed to document some bits and bobs. The first noticeable thing about arriving at the complutense is the sheer size of the university, which has the metro stop named after it and buses running from one end of campus to the other. Hattie, queen of fun facts, informed me its the largest univesity in europe. Before leaving, we were told the fine arts faculty had very beautiful buildings, so imagine our surprise when we were greeted with the shoddy piece of shit pictured above. However, this was a deceiving first impression as it turns out the faculty is indeed a beautiful place, with interesting architecture, great classes and very useful facilites and teachers

This split dome of a building can be found between the two main sites of the university. In the past, it´s been used for many things not linked to the fine arts department or the univerisy, all of which I can´t remember now. Currently , its home to various restoration projects.

The wall facing the courtyard, demonstrating the faculty´s keen interest in mural painting. I should note that I took all these photos on the only day (so far) it was pissing down with rain. This explains the general absence of people and ghost town appearance

The courtyard. Oddly, it has these shallow empty  pools runing through the centre. On a sunny daym you would have students and profesors  sitting, eating and drinking, and occasionally talking about art and life and shit yeah! The best touch is the crew of black stray cats who lounge around menacingly in the courtyard. they live off manchego and ham donated by students

LOCKERS!
